ActionAid Nigeria is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the Communications Assistant, SCALE-NSR position.
Below is the job description for the role:
Job Title: Communications Assistant, Strengthening Collaborative Actions and Leveraging Partnerships for Expansion and Use of NSR (SCALE-NSR) Project
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Reporting to: Programme Coordinator
Line Management: Nil
Grade: 5
Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant will support the implementation of communications, media engagement, and outreach activities for the SCALE-NSR project. The role will focus on content development, media engagement, branding, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
A. Content Development & Documentation
- Assist in developing and editing communication materials, including success stories, newsletters, blog posts, case studies, and reports.
- Support the design and branding of project communication materials, ensuring consistency.
- Assist in reviewing and editing partners’ communication products.
- Work closely with the visual and brand consultant to produce communication materials.
B. Media & Public Engagement
- Assist in executing social and mainstream media campaigns to increase the visibility of the SCALE-NSR Project.
- Monitor media coverage and track the impact of communication efforts.
- Support organizing press briefings, media roundtables, and digital advocacy campaigns.
- Maintain an active social media presence for the project by creating engaging content.
C. Advocacy & Strategic Communications
- Assist in developing advocacy materials, including policy briefs and key messages.
- Support communication efforts for international campaign
- Help document and share project successes and key learnings.
D. Capacity Building & Partner Support
- Assist in training SCALE-NSR partners on communication strategies and content development.
- Provide technical support to partners in documenting and promoting their initiatives.
E. Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure timely delivery of communication requests related to the SCALE - NSR project.
- Support content management for the project’s website and social media platforms.
- Assist in proposal development by providing communication-related inputs.
- Support other ActionAid Nigeria communication initiatives as needed.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.
Key Working Relationships:
Internal: Entire AAN team
External: The Media, project partners, donor, Partners, INGO Community and other stakeholders.
Persons Specifications
Qualifications
- Minimum of National Diploma in communications, socials sciences or arts/humanities
Experience
- At least two (2) years’ work experience, in Website development and digital communications.
- Capacity building experience includes training and facilitation.
- Proven experience in running social media campaigns leading, digital advocacy, and branding initiatives.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience in producing diverse communication materials.
- Experience working with the media is desirable.
- Familiarity with popular media sector and previous relationship with same is desirable.
- Experience working on EU- funded project is an advantage is desirable.
Skill Abilities
- Expertise in social media management, website content development, and multimedia production.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple communication products and deadlines simultaneously.
