ActionAid Nigeria is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the Finance Consultant, RWVL position. 

Below is the job description for the role:

Position:                    Finance Consultant, Renewed Women’s Voice & Leadership (RWVL)                                               

Responsible to:         Finance Advisor, RWVL

Location :                  Abuja

Line Management :   None

 

Job Purpose

The post holder will ensure maintenance of adequate financial integrity in supporting quality and timely data input for generation of financial reports and review and analyze accounting ledgers. S/he will also contribute to strengthening the internal control and accounting systems of ActionAid Nigeria and partner organizations.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support team members in the review of Partners’ reports.
  • Attend to project-specific internal/external audits.
  • Work with other members of the project team in planning and forecasting.
  • Follow through ActionAid Nigeria communication procedures with donors and implementing partners.
  • Review, reconcile and post hold partners report.
  • Strictly adhere to AA Nigeria policies and procedures and observance with agreement of donor Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the project as required of Global Affairs Canada
  • Support RWVL team in providing organizational development support to Implementing partner organizations.
  • Support capacity assessment,  financial and accounting processes, and prepare reports on partner organizations as may be assigned by the Finance Advisor.
  • Review and posting of vouchers.
  • Maintain Project Asset Register & keep it up-to-date.
  • Support team in carrying out asset verification exercise for all Project assets
  • Provide support during Project & Partner budget planning
  • Monitor and review staff advances, retirements, and post-hold journals.
  • Provide support in reconciliation of projects, bank accounts and other assigned ledgers
  • Maintenance of cloud-based balance sheet and Partner grant tracker
  • Maintain project document archive (soft copy & hard copy)
  • Any other duties assigned by line manager.

Key Working Relationships:

Internal:          Entire AAN staff

External:         Donors, Partners, external auditors, and government agencies

Persons Specification:

Education/Qualifications

  • First degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Relevant accounting professional certification (ICAN, ACCA etc) is desirable.

Experience

  • At least three (3) years post NYSC experience of which should have been spent in a finance position.
  • Experience in implementing financial control systems 
  • Sound practical Knowledge of any accounting software and Spreadsheets
  • Development sector experience as a finance person is desirable
  • Experience working with subgrantees is desirable
